The Ceremony

St Lawrence's Church, Barlow
27/06/09 at 2pm

The wedding will be split between two locations. We will be getting married in St Lawrence's Church (which dates from the 1100s) in the village where Lisa grew up and then the reception will be at her cousin's house in Loversall which is around a 40 minute drive away.

Right, so currently the time of the wedding is 2-2.30pm (to be confirmed with Father Stanley and on your invites). If you are travelling from Leeds it takes an hour to an hour and a half depending on traffic. You take the M1 and then get off at junction 29 or 30 and follow the signs for Chesterfield. Google maps will be able to give you better instructions than we can so the church postcode is S18 7TR. If you are travelling from further afield:
- East Midlands and Manchester airports are around an hour away by car.
- Sheffield is around 20 mins by car (15 mins by train to Chesterfield and then bus/taxi to Barlow).
- London/London airports are around 3 hours away by car/train (longer by bus).

Unfortunately, Barlow isn't very accessible by public transport. The best options are driving/hiring a car/minibus (which we will try and coordinate). If you need to get here via public transport:
- Catch a train to Chesterfield.
- A taxi from the station will cost you £8-£10 pounds
- Alternatively catch a bus from Chesterfield to Barlow (although the bus stop is around a 20 minute walk from the train station). The bus at 13:04 will get you to the village for 13:20. (If you want to get the bus, then post a message for directions, but Lisa wouldn't advise this option).
- We would then try and coordinate your getting to the reception in a minibus/car from the village. You could either travel back using this transport in the evening (if you were staying in Chesterfield) or get accommodation in Doncaster and then travel on from there.

There is limited parking at the church, but there is a pub directly across the road called The Old Pump. The food is pretty good and we're sure that quite a few people will gather there before the wedding (including Jonah) in case you arrive early.

Lisa will be on time, so no turning up late!

There will be a post in the near future regarding accommodation and transport, but we'll get to that later on and will discuss the various options for Barlow and Doncaster (as each one will have their merits for different guests). Basically though, we will (with everyone's help) try to coordinate transport for everyone, so shout up when we ask! Obviously those of you with cars will have a slightly easier time, but we'll try and ensure that everyone can attend both parts of the day.

We are hoping that the ceremony will reflect both of our personalities as well as the nature of our relationship and we look forward to having you all there to celebrate with us.
